A Buccino Poem-A-Day

Buccino Poetry Nominated For Pushcart Prize

The poetry editors for Volume 55 of U.S. 1 Worksheets, Betty Lies, Linda Arntzenius and Wanda Praisner have nominated Anthony Buccino's poem At The Vet for the Pushcart Prize.

Life Is Short Dept.

Anthony Buccino published four collections of poetry in the past eight months. Some of the collections overlap while the author's voice remains consistent throughout.

It is poetry through a news-trained ear, so to speak, often in straightforward, flowerless prose, but providing specific and clear images, or sparking in the reader's mind a similar place and time.

So, why publish four collections in so short a span? Simple. It was time.

The poems in these collections, whether about growing up in the 1960s, family pets, seeing a father through a grown son's eyes, or reliving the pain and fear of joblessness, are all about right now. And they are timeless at the same time. See for yourself.

Nice rejection notes:

"... Many of your poems are inventive and thoughtful, and some, if not all, are well-realized... Your voice is wise and captivating, but the craft, in places, has not quite caught up to your vision..."

"Thanks for the poems. We will not be using them for (our ezine), but do send them elsewhere. There's nothing about them that reek of works which will go unpublished. Best of luck"
