The poetry editors for
Volume 55 of U.S. 1 Worksheets,
Betty Lies, Linda Arntzenius and Wanda Praisner have nominated
Anthony Buccino's poem At The Vet for the
Pushcart Prize.
Life Is

Anthony Buccino published four collections of
poetry in the past eight months. Some of the collections overlap
while the author's voice remains consistent throughout.
It is poetry
through a news-trained ear, so to speak, often in straightforward,
flowerless prose, but providing specific and clear images, or
sparking in the reader's mind a similar place and time.
So, why publish
four collections in so short a span? Simple. It was time.
The poems in
these collections, whether about growing up in the 1960s, family
pets, seeing a father through a grown son's eyes, or reliving the
pain and fear of joblessness, are all about right now. And they are
